Enjoy the story first, follow the child’s interest, and choose **one small activity** when you are ready. 1 #### Before the story Ask: **“Can something small help everyone?”** Let the child answer in English or another familiar language. 2 #### While reading Read for enjoyment. Pause for the repeated parts and let the child join the rhyme, movements or sounds. 3 #### After the story Ask one easy question: **“Who did Firefly help?”** A spoken answer, pointing, acting or drawing all count. 4 #### Choose one activity Open **Play & Practise** and pick just one task. Stop while the child is still enjoying it. 💛 The goal is connection and confidence — not finishing every activity. Want more teaching detail? **Literacy focus:** listening, retelling, initial /l/, rhyme in light/night/bright, story order, vocabulary and early sentence building. **Social focus:** kindness, courage, cooperation and the idea that being small does not mean being powerless. Language bridge English is the target language, but Swedish, Rukiga, Luganda or another familiar language can help the child understand and participate. Say the idea first in the language that helps; then bridge key words into English.
