A job advertisement may look straightforward, but choosing the right applicant is rarely simple. One candidate may have strong qualifications, another may have valuable practical experience, while another may present themselves confidently without providing enough evidence.

In *Wanted: One Perfect Candidate*, learners examine a vacancy notice and compare three very different applicants. As the recruitment panel struggles to agree on whom to shortlist, learners must decide which details are relevant, identify unsupported claims and consider how an organisation can make a fair and transparent decision.

This Senior Four English resource develops learners’ reading, writing, speaking and critical-thinking skills through a realistic recruitment problem. Learners will interpret a job advertisement, evaluate application evidence, practise formal language, plan a truthful application and design a fair selection process.

Use this post together with the Student Workbook and Teacher Guide.

**Guiding question:**

*How can an organisation choose the right person fairly when applicants have different experiences, qualifications and ways of presenting themselves?*nce and explains why that evidence matters.
