### Starting at the Big School

Karin has just finished kindergarten, and Teacher Nancy says she is ready for the **big school**.

But Karin is not so sure.

What if she gets lost?  
What if she does not know anyone?  
What if the teacher asks her something and her mouth forgets how to talk?

In this first Literacy story, young learners meet Karin as she prepares for Primary One and discovers that it is possible to feel **excited and nervous at the same time**.

Along the way, learners are encouraged to:

- predict what Karin may be worried about
- talk about feelings and new experiences
- answer simple comprehension questions
- connect the story to their own lives
- hunt for familiar words in the story

This is the beginning of our **Our School** journey.

Next, Karin will arrive at the big school — where a very excited boy named Musa is waiting to show her around.
