Introduction

This teacher guide supports the Senior Two English material This Time, Show Us, developed under the topic Anti-corruption.

The material places learners in a realistic community situation where they must develop a transparent plan for completing an unfinished bridge project and persuade residents that the new process will be accountable, fair and successful. Through reading, discussion, writing and speech, learners practise using clear reasons, practical evidence, respectful language and responses to possible objections.

The teacher’s role is to guide learners without designing the solution for them. Encourage each group to analyse the community’s concerns, propose safeguards, justify its choices and communicate with a clear audience in mind.
